Experience shows that every engine gasket, especially the cylinder head gasket, is unique. The design of the specific gasket for each application is governed by the mating engine parts and the amount and distribution of the forces provided by the fastening system. In addition, it must seal gases and liquids often at extremely high temperatures and pressures. Its’ performance can also be effected by cyclic pressures and temperatures.
Through my experience, I have a thorough knowledge of the many technologies and the fundamentals used in the sealing of engines including:
- Metal jacketed gaskets of old
- Perforated steel reinforced laminates
- Solid steel laminates
- Rubber coated stainless steel layered
- Combustion seals including wire rings and metal armoring
- Gasket enhancements
- Processing and manufacturing
- Molded rubber
Let me put my skills to work for you and your design problems or issues. I can critique your design and perhaps suggest potential problem areas or make recommendations for better performance or consistency.
